On why the best client relationships are the ones that go the distance
We’ve been doing this long enough to know that the most valuable thing we offer isn’t any particular technical skill, as much as those matter. It’s the relationship — the trust that builds up over time when a client knows they’ll always get a straight answer, and that we’ll always have their best interests in mind.
That probably sounds like something everyone says. But we think it’s worth explaining what it actually means in practice.
Straight answers, for us, means telling you when we think a project isn’t worth the investment. It means being honest when a problem is going to take longer to fix than you’d like. It means explaining things clearly, without retreating into technical language when the news isn’t great. We’ve found that clients appreciate directness enormously — even when the message is something they’d rather not hear — because it means they can trust what we tell them.
No jargon is a related point. Technology is full of acronyms and terminology that can make straightforward situations feel opaque and intimidating. We translate. When something goes wrong with your site, you don’t need a lecture on server architecture — you need to know what happened, what we’re doing about it, and when it’ll be fixed. That’s what we give you.
The long-term view matters too.
Some of our client relationships go back many years. We’ve watched businesses grow, pivot, expand into new markets, and weather difficult periods. Through all of that, we’ve been the constant in their technology — the people they call when something’s wrong, and increasingly, the people they involve before something goes wrong.
That kind of relationship is genuinely different from a transactional one. We know the history of your setup, the decisions that were made and why, the things that have been tried and didn’t work. That context is enormously valuable, and it accumulates over time.
If you’re looking for someone to fix a one-off problem, we’re happy to help with that too — and our free discovery meeting is a good place to start. But if what you’re really looking for is a trusted technology partner for the long haul, that’s where we do our best work. It’s the kind of relationship we’re most proud of, and the kind we work hardest to deserve.
